MLMT invites you to sneak into the world of senses hidden from the collective eye. Come, let us feel Bulgaria.
When to visit?
Towards the north of the world, Bulgaria experiences its sunny days around June and August. Long days to roam and pleasant weathers to keep you happy. Even with its extremes of sun and high rains, it is the most met season for Bulgaria. It is when everyone wants to be there. Spring is also a beautiful and pleasant time for Bulgaria. September also brings with it inspiring weather. It only gets extreme and dramatic all the way down from October.
The average cost of a person
This paradise hides under a rock. Only the wanderers and the faithful followers of adventure find it. Hence, it is one of the cheapest destinations in all of Europe. And you will find bargain prices anywhere. Bulgaria is where you will notice that even a relatively budget travel plan will get you an exhilarating feel. The cost only hikes at the accommodation, and yet there you will find cheap hostels. The trip will go to about 60-80,000 rupees without flights.
Visa Requirements
Anybody coming in from the United States do not have to get a Visa done to enter the country. The rest, however, do have a process. You need the original passport valid for at least 6 months. You need the income tax statistics and documents for the last three years. You also need to provide your day to day itinerary. The catch is that if you carry a Schengen Visa you are exempt from these procedures.
Where to stay?
Sofia:
This is one chilled out dude. A lot of people miss out on the capital of Bulgaria as they run off to all that the country has to offer. But that choice couldn’t be more off. It is not the most built and glam of all cities. But it is a charming piece of delight. It is energetic and fun and colorful. It is a sea of homes, churches, and mosques.
A bit of its past unraveled itself as they found materials from 2000 years ago. It told of times where the city was known as, “Serdica” The city has an entire arcade of ski and hike trips mere kilometers away from it. There are beautiful museums and an excellent dining scene. You came for something else for Bulgaria, but this quirky city will make you want to go and stay a while longer.

Plovdiv:
This is the city that forces you to keep your eyes wide open and stay awake and hungry for adventure all night. It is a mix of old Roman ruins and great nightlife like never seen before. It holds in its delicate arms seven hills. It is termed Europe’s oldest continuously lived in the city. You will miss its romantic old town life when you are out. Houses ornate in colors that have now been converted into museums will get a vibrancy to your face.
The second city of Bulgaria has always lived in the shadows of Sofia. But a small boom in Capital of Culture brought it some edge. It now pumps souls with music festivals influential enough break glass. This dramatic renovation of the city brings it a destination that you have to be. It is not just a connect between Bulgari, Greece, and Turkey anymore. It is something way bigger.

Varna:
From the two top cities, you go for a more cooling refuge to Varna. It is the maritime capital of the country. It brings to the table some exciting and exotic spice. The cosmopolitan town in Bulgaria is along the Black Sea coast. It is a three-pronged approach. Port city, naval base and seaside resort all packed into one big, happy package. It is a place to go hide off for a few days.
Even when thrown together in so much history, modern lifestyle has touched it in beautiful ways. Parks for your dogs to run and beaches to zone out on. Towards the middle, you will find humongous Roman baths and a cultured archaeological center. It also has a plus point with the restaurant scene. It leads people to various day trips looked forward to by a lot of people.

Veliko Tarnova:
From every wall and every lane, Veliko Tarnova screams of a medieval time we all want to go back to. This forms one of Bulgaria’s oldest towns. It is that ancient grandma with the best of stories. It all shines through the rejuvenated Tsarevets Fortress of the Second Bulgarian Empire. This city is embraced by the Yantra river and wild forests. You can easily relive a time before yours here. The world changes but Veliko Tarnova still remains the same.
The city does have a modern scene though. It is a hub for young energy. With the second largest university in Bulgaria, it is swarmed with happiness. Because it is located between Bucharest and Istanbul, it is honey for the backpackers. Do not treat this city as a one-stop and go place. There is much to explore.

Ruse:
Ruse, the queen of Bulgarian cities. This city with its Roman spirit brings a wave of elegance to Bulgaria. It is often written as, “Rousse” It has the essence of the Mitteleuropa, or Central Europe. This sort of pompousness is rarely seen elsewhere. Belle epoque architecture stands stall throughout the city. Squares built to the last mm.
It is as if a bit of Vienna also lives in the city. The glorious past of Ruse is displayed in many museums and such. The Roman fortress protects the Danube. You can even touch point the place as you visit the rock monasteries around.

Top Experiences
Kayak on the Kavarna
Instead of clustering yourself to the Black Sea coast which has more people that droplets of water. Head out to the northern side of things. This kayaking experience is something you have to add to your bucket list. And if you’re not an adventure buff, the calm waters and sunsets will have you swooning.
Work from the Hammocks
This piece of excitement exists in a place known as Chepelare. Office in the woods is a co-working station camp that lets you run away from your cubicle and into a hammock. It is a charging point for all the people done with their desks. A place where they can rejuvenate in the fresh, mountain air and mountain bike off the rails.
Movie on a rock
The name of it is enough to take you to the brilliance of the place. People watch their films on all sorts of screens, but the people here do it better. Momchilova Fortress is a fully stocked fortress where a movie is projected on the rock. Generally, Saturdays come with a short movie about Momchilo heroes is showcased. It is a vibe that cannot be described and surprisingly is exceptionally cheap.
Bare Foot Fire Dance
Rituals can be fascinating and slightly scary as thoroughly. A place called Nestinarstvo is famously known for their barefoot dances on burning embers. It takes place on the 3rd of June. That is the day of St. Constantine and Helen. This is a must see. The culture is an excellent mix of Eastern Orthodox belief systems and other even more ancient pagan traditions.
Travel Smart:
Bulgaria provides a safe and cheap public transport. But, it might run late at times. Especially trains. The best way to go around is the trains. For cities and small towns, buses get it done. The most closed off of villages can be reached by small vans that go every few days and weeks.
You must be very careful if you are to drive in this country at all. It does not have the track record for the best of drivers. They are very aggressive and act without thinking on the road. There are also a lot of potholes on the road. Also, expect cows and mules on the way.
The currency used in Bulgaria is their local currency, lev. You are not allowed to pay through euros. This fact changes in some petrol stations in the central state area. You can pay with debit cards wherever you feel. Except for the villages, where cash is more natural.
Try not to fall ill on trips. Especially this one. The healthcare system in Bulgaria has been deteriorating financially and in other ways. When you call an ambulance for an emergency, it is free, but otherwise, it is paid. To get excellent service, try to get it done from a private hospital.
